Wow - I'm surprised he hasn't resigned before now - why do the famous put up with the attitude of our press in that they can only print the negative about anything - how about a bit of positive press to make us feel better in this recession.
Anyway, back to Copello, will he go if England win? And who will take his place? What about Martin O'neil with David Beckham as his no. 2?
This is my favourite time of year - everything is back to normal with the children back at school, the football season is well on its way and we can now start to prepare for the best time of year - Christmas. I have now picked out what I 'm going to do to make my Christmas cards so I shall start to do that in plenty of time so I can enjoy the build up and not feel as stressed the closer Christmas comes.
I'm also knitting scarves with the new yarn we have in the shop and they are lovely. And on that note I must go and DO some of these things I've been talking about.

Well, summer holidays are over, the kids are back at school so what can we focus on now? My background for this is - my other half (husband) used to be in the Navy and ALWAYS went to sea about now. I hated it so got myself into the habit of finding something to focus on - which was Christmas. Planning what presents I would buy, when I should make the Christmas Cake, when I could make my Christmas Cards etc etc.
He's not in the Navy anymore but I can't seem to break the habit - I love Christmas, it conjures up lovely warm feelings and great family times together so I'm only too happy to keep up this "tradition" I've created.
Having the shop only reinforces this as I have to order Christmas stock early so this "feeds my habit". Actually, just to say - if anyone is thinking of making any Christmas presents or Christmas cards or even Christmas decorations such as (Quilted wall hangings) you really should think about it soon and take the pressure away from manic November and December.
Remember: - The early bird catches the worm!

It's Bank Holiday Monday and it's so quiet, mind you it is also sunny but with a cold wind.
The Politics still goes on - but who do I vote for? I find it difficult to believe any of them. I expect I will make the decision when I'm standing in my polling booth and HAVE to make the decision.
As for crafting we are beginning to get more new things in eg Tim Holtz - although as we order an awful lot is still out of stock so that will come in slowly (this is better on the purse strings for everybody because it is just gorgeous). We should also get a delivery of 7 Gypsies this week (again this will be tugging on the purse strings 'coz I love this range of crafting so I've GOT to have it).
As for knitting, I must finish the 6 projects I'm doing before I start any more! It would be wonderful if we could have a few more hours in the day or maybe an extra day in the week when shops legally have to shut so we can have a day to do crafting!!!
For all the sports lovers (actually football lovers) isn't the Premiership exciting this year. Who will win - Chelsea(hope not) or Man United(yes please), or who will get that 4th spot for European football next season - I hope either Tottenham or Aston Villa. I will be a nervous wreck next weekend - hoping Man United can do it and also my son is in a cup final in his under 16's league - COME ON WENDRON.
Hope you all have a good week, 'til the next time cheerio.

Life is NEVER dull. At the moment hubby is away and of course is supposed to come back on Sunday - but will he get a flight I wonder? or will I get another night of "good" sleep? Time will tell. Who'd of thought that a volcano in Iceland could cause more disruption than the staff striking? Life has a funny side sometimes.
Well the politics have started in earnest and already I'm bored but would really like to know more. If only they could say what they're about and not what the other parties are not doing or are doing badly. This really does not let people know what their Party is about, ie as an employer will they give us any rights or are all the rights now with the employed. I would like to think that I am a good employer and try my best but at the end of the day does it matter 'coz I don't have any rights. I think if only one Party stood up and only concentrated on their policies I would vote for them!! (I think, maybe not)
It has been a busy week this week with Scrapbook Club on Monday, Band on Tuesday, meeting on Wednesday, Knitting Club on Thursday and out playing with the band on Friday and Saturday - well I'm off to Callington (near Plymouth) to take (and watch hopefully) child no. 4 play football for Porthleven First team, and then take and watch him play football on Sunday morning and then rest. Then we're back to working again on Monday. Why do weekends rush by so quick but the "working" days of the week don't go so quick?
Well I think I'll just go and do some knitting to relax now.

Well Easter week-end is over and what a good one it was. The sun is shining today , the wind is mild (for down here)and life is rosy. There seem to be a more holiday makers down at the moment - obviously with the school holidays - and its nice to meet up with some customers we've got to know over the years.
As for crafting - if you look at our website we are having a grand sale of all things from Design Objectives or DOCrafts. The reason being we want to bring a bit more variety into the shop and online.
Our knitting clubs and scrapbooking club continue and are a real pleasure as it gives me time to do mine.
THE DATE HAS BEEN SET - The General Election is on May 6th just before Flora Day. Television, news and newspapers are going to get extremely boring. I know it's important but I would rather hear/read about what they are going to do not about what the other Parties are doing wrong. Anyway we shall see how this progresses.
Is anyone watching "Flash Forward" on TV. I'm absolutely addicted and can't wait for the next episode. What with that and "24" - gives me time to sit and do my knitting - it's heaven.
Must go and do some work now, so bye for now

Well I'm feeling inspired following our visit to the Trade Show at the NEC in Birmingham. But I feel we want to take a slightly different track. Let me explain I think over the past few years the papercrafting, ie Cardmaking and scrapbooking have become a craft of quick fixes where we can make beautiful cards quickly as we just stick on someone elses art work. When I began cardmaking I would make my own background papers and using rubber stamps, as I am no artist, make a 'focal' point for my cards. I feel like I've lost the ability to do that. So after seeing Tim Holtz creating and hearing him say it could take him up to 3 hours to make a card (or was that one of the sales team? I can't remember) I thought - yes, since people made cards to sell it became quick cards to make them more cost effective. For me it is time to get back to making all aspects of a card and it doesn't matter how long it takes.
This also follows for scrapbooking too. You can buy lovely papers but you could also make beautiful papers.
So it is my quest to get back to making my own background papers and producing my own "art work".
How about you?
It's March and we're having some great weather in Porthleven - it's cold but sunny - wonderful.

Wow how time flies when you're busy. I thought as we got to each year life would get easier as the kids became more independent so leaving us with more time - why isn't that happening? I feel like I'm getting less and less time to do what I need to do. However, we go to bed, get up the next morning and continue to do as much as we can - the house work will still be there tomorrow.
As to the shop - it has definitely been a difficult start to the year with the weather and the "recession". What other excuses can we find as to why life is tough at the moment for a lot of people. Bring on the good weather - we always feel better when the sun shines as it is at the moment.
The world doesn't seem to be a better place than it was this time last year or is it that we only hear the bad news on the television and in the newspapers. Why do they delight in pulling people to pieces and mis-reporting anything to make it sound worse than it really is.
Fancy blogging again and having a good moan. Here's a thought for today to maybe make you think:
It's easy to make a buck. It's a lot tougher to make a difference.

Well, we are definitely back to normal. All the snow and ice have gone and yesterday and this afternoon we went out to walk the dogs and it was just beautiful. Didn't get too far as kept meeting people we had to stop to talk to - it was lovely, just like a summers day.
The snow and ice have definitely affected business as people just couldn't get to us but it's lovely to see our customers again coming out of hibernation.
It seems to be that time of year where not a lot happens but we have our Scrapbooking club tomorrow evening which I look forward to. I have decided to make a "Birthday Book" where I can put everyone's birthdays and addresses in so it will always be at hand.
I can't let it go and not say something about the terrible earthquake in Haiti- we cannot begin to understand the level of grief, fear, hardship (this hardly seems a strong enough word) that the people who have survived are going through. They must be in everyones prayers whether you believe in God or not.
If you know of someone that is still missing or have lost someone then be assured that a lot of people are praying for you and are contributing in some way to to help the situation.

Well the snow has hit us at last and it has lasted all of one night. It's amazing we have a little snow and the country closes down. I do understand that we are just not geared up for it 'coz it only happens once in a blue moon. It is fun though. Apparently we're in for more tomorrow and Friday. (Hope not - not good for business).
I was glad that things were done tastefully in Wooten Basset yesterday.
Are you knitting - everyone down here in Porthleven are knitting their own hats, gloves and scarves and even leg-warmers(which takes me back to my younger days). It gives you something to do, maybe to learn a new skill with something to show at the end of it and they will keep you warm.
